CUBES II
2020 – 2023

2020 – 2023
Set within identically shaped cubic rooms, CUBES II explores the interconnectedness of humankind through the lens of recurring historical patterns.
The series consists of nine images, each drawing inspiration from a different period of history. Architectural elements from notable buildings as well as references to significant historical events are reinterpreted within the same enclosed spatial structure, suggesting how certain situations and dynamics resurface over time.
By placing historical references into a uniform spatial framework, CUBES II reflects on how insights from the past might inform future decisions, raising questions about responsibility, continuity, and the possibility of learning from earlier mistakes.
The series was featured on PetaPixel (July 2023).
ABOUT THE MAKING:
Just like in the other two chapters – CUBES I and CUBES III – each room was constructed as a miniature set, carefully lit and photographed. The building process combines traditional crafting techniques with contemporary technologies such as 3D printing and laser cutting.
All models were photographed individually and later integrated into the final sceneries. The making-of videos below provide further insight into the construction and photographic process.
