CUBES III
2023 – 2025

2023 – 2025
Set within a fictional environment – a rotating space station called Helios-9 – CUBES III explores the relationship between technology and the human being.
The series consists of nine interconnected rooms that function as a closed system, reflecting on the growing interdependence between humans and machines. Rather than approaching technology merely as a tool, CUBES III addresses broader questions of agency, control, and responsibility within a present shaped by increasingly autonomous systems and advances in artificial intelligence.
The series was featured on PetaPixel (January 2026).
ABOUT THE MAKING:
Just like in the previous two chapters – CUBES I and CUBES II – each room was constructed as a miniature set, carefully lit and photographed. The building process combines traditional crafting techniques with contemporary technologies such as 3D printing and laser cutting.
Artificial intelligence was exploratively integrated into the creative process during phases such as brainstorming and moodboarding; the images themselves do not make use of generative AI. All models were photographed individually and later integrated into the final sceneries. The making-of videos below provide further insight into the construction and photographic process.
